Jeong Yeon-oh Campaign Celebrates Exit Poll Results
Exit poll data released this evening indicates a lead for Jeong Yeon-oh, the Democratic Party candidate for Seoul mayor, over his opponent Oh Se-hoon of the People Power Party. Projections from the joint exit poll conducted by three major broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) and an exit poll from JTBC both place Jeong ahead.
Upon the announcement of the exit poll results at 6 p.m. today, the campaign office for candidate Jeong erupted in cheers and applause. Supporters expressed their excitement, with many seen giving thumbs up.
Tension and Celebration at Campaign Headquarters
Prior to the exit poll release, a palpable sense of anticipation filled the second-floor situation room at Jeong’s campaign headquarters. Key figures present included Chief Campaign Manager Lee In-young, Senior Campaign Manager Kim Young-bae, and joint campaign committee members Han Jung-ae, Go Min-jung, Nam In-soon, Kim Young-ho, and Jin Sung-joon. Lee Jae-jeong, head of the support group, was also in attendance.
Following the announcement, these individuals were observed shaking hands and raising them in a gesture of shared success.
Exit Poll Projections
According to JTBC’s exit poll projections, Jeong Yeon-oh is expected to secure 53.5% of the vote, while Oh Se-hoon is projected to receive 42.9%. This represents a difference of 10.6 percentage points.
The joint exit poll results from KBS, MBC, and SBS show Jeong Yeon-oh with 51.4% and Oh Se-hoon with 46%, indicating a narrower margin of approximately 5.4 percentage points.
Campaign Manager’s Statement
After the exit polls concluded, Chief Campaign Manager Lee In-young commented on the results. “We are viewing the exit poll results positively, but we will continue to monitor them closely,” he stated. He further analyzed, “The dream of Seoul citizens for a new Seoul has coalesced into support for candidate Jeong.”
Candidate Jeong Yeon-oh was reportedly not at the campaign headquarters to watch the exit poll results but was elsewhere. Earlier in the day, around 4:40 p.m., Jeong visited the campaign office, greeted reporters, and then departed.
