Memory Mishaps and Culinary Delights: Jeon Hyun-moo’s Gochang Adventure
A recent culinary excursion to Gochang, South Jeolla Province, saw television personality Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Joon-bin embark on a food-tasting adventure that highlighted both the region’s famed delicacies and the host’s surprising memory lapses.
The duo arrived in Gochang, a locale renowned for its abundance of blue crabs and eels, with Jeon Hyun-moo enthusiastically dubbing it the “City of Eels.” He playfully urged Kwak Joon-bin, referring to him as “Kwak Tube,” to join him, even joking about a “second child,” which elicited laughter from Kwak Joon-bin.
Concerns Over Culinary Authenticity
However, the jovial atmosphere took a brief turn as Jeon Hyun-moo expressed apprehension about their first planned menu item: Jjamjjamyeon. He voiced concerns about the dish’s authenticity, stating, “I’m worried because our Chinese restaurant’s Chinese food consumption rate is low.” Kwak Joon-bin echoed these sentiments, adding, “That’s right. Now we even hear rejection through applause.” This exchange generated further amusement.
A Familiar Face and a Forgotten Past
Upon arriving at a restaurant, Jeon Hyun-moo, known for his appearances on popular shows like ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘The King of Mask Singer,’ approached the owner with unusual politeness, complimenting their “impressive face.” The owner, however, revealed that Jeon Hyun-moo had visited before, pointing to a photograph of him displayed on the restaurant wall. This unexpected recognition caught Jeon Hyun-moo off guard, leading him to admit, “I really can’t even remember what I did a month ago.” He revealed that he is currently a regular on seven different programs, underscoring the challenge of recalling every past engagement.
Kwak Joon-bin immediately initiated a “taste test for a close friend” to assess the situation, but the results proved surprising, causing a stir at the scene.
Gochang-Style Jjamjjamyeon: A Revelation
Despite the earlier memory-related hiccups, the day’s featured dish was eventually revealed to be “Gochang-style Jjamjjamyeon.” This unique preparation involves mixing Jjajangmyeon with Jjamppong, minus the broth. Kwak Joon-bin was effusive in his praise, exclaiming, “It’s really delicious!” Jeon Hyun-moo agreed, confidently stating, “If you call this ‘Gochang-style Jjamjjamyeon,’ I think it would be a hit even in Seoul!”
Viewers can witness Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Joon-bin’s enthusiastic reviews of the “Gochang-style Jjamjjamyeon” and the full, laughter-filled food trip experience in Gochang during the broadcast of the 34th episode of ‘Jeon Hyun-moo’s Map Book 3’ on MBN and Channel S.
