The Lotte Giants secured a decisive 4-0 victory against the KT Wiz on July 3rd at the Suwon KT Wiz Park. This win brings the Giants’ season record to 35 wins, 43 losses, and 2 ties.
Kim Jin-wook Dominates on the Mound
Starting pitcher Kim Jin-wook delivered an exceptional performance, pitching 6 and 1/3 scoreless innings. He threw 99 pitches, allowing just 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 7 batters. This stellar outing earned him his 5th win of the season and set a strong foundation for the Giants’ success.
Han Dong-hee Powers the Offense
The Giants’ offense came alive in the top of the 4th inning. Following a single by Lee Ye-se, Han Dong-hee launched a go-ahead two-run home run over the center field wall. This marked Han’s 6th home run of the season and provided the crucial momentum for the team.
The Giants had opportunities to extend their lead but were unable to capitalize on them. In the 5th inning, Son Ho-young was thrown out at home trying to score on a single by Hwang Sung-bin. Later, in the 8th inning, a bases-loaded opportunity with two outs evaporated when Lee Ye-se hit into a fielder’s choice.
Han Dong-hee Strikes Again
However, Han Dong-hee proved to be the difference-maker once more. In the 8th inning, he hit another crucial two-run home run, this time off KT pitcher Lee Sang-dong, sending the ball over the right-field wall. This second long ball secured the victory for the Giants.
Bullpen Closes the Door
Following Kim Jin-wook’s dominant start, the Giants’ bullpen maintained the shutout. Choi Jun-yong, Lee I-moo, and Kim Won-jung each pitched scoreless relief appearances, ensuring the victory.
Manager Kim Tae-hyung Praises Pitching and Han Dong-hee
After the game, manager Kim Tae-hyung expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. “Starting pitcher Kim Jin-wook pitched very well, keeping them scoreless for 6 and 1/3 innings,” Kim said. “The relief pitchers who came in also did a great job of holding onto the lead.”
