Besiktas Pursues Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard
Turkish club Besiktas is reportedly in advanced discussions to sign Belgian international winger Leandro Trossard from Arsenal. Reports indicate that Besiktas is accelerating negotiations for the player, aiming to secure his services swiftly. The club is preparing to present a transfer offer of approximately €20 million for Trossard.
Besiktas Reinforces Coaching Staff and Squad
This potential acquisition follows Besiktas’ recent appointment of Vincenzo Italiano, an experienced Italian manager, as their new head coach. Italiano replaced Şenol Güneş, who departed the club due to the team’s performance in the 2025-2026 season. Güneş had previously brought South Korean national team forward Oh Hyeon-gyu to the Belgian club Genk from the winter transfer market. Oh Hyeon-gyu has since made a significant impact, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 13 league appearances for Genk in the latter half of the season.
Besiktas finished fourth in their domestic league last season, trailing Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Trabzonspor. However, they have secured a spot in the Europa League for the upcoming season. The club is actively working to strengthen its squad, with the signing of Trossard being a key part of these efforts.
Trossard’s Situation at Arsenal
Trossard has seen his role at Arsenal diminish recently. The English Premier League champions are keen to bolster their squad this summer, with a particular focus on strengthening their left-wing options. Trossard’s name has been linked with potential moves in the current transfer window.
The 31-year-old has been a valuable player under manager Mikel Arteta, contributing with notable performances. Although not always a guaranteed starter, Trossard has been a key figure for the Belgian national team. Last season, he started in 21 of his 31 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, registering six goals and six assists.
Trossard’s current contract with Arsenal extends until June 2027. He joined Arsenal in January 2023 from Brighton for a reported fee of €24 million. While contract extension talks have reportedly stalled, speculation about Trossard’s departure from Arsenal has been growing. His current market value is estimated at €18 million, making Besiktas’ proposed €20 million offer appear reasonable.
Trossard’s International Commitments
Trossard is currently preparing for the World Cup group stage matches with the Belgian national team. Belgium is drawn in Group G, alongside Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.
