U.S. Central Command Issues Statement
The U.S. Central Command, responsible for the Middle East, announced on their official platform that the U.S. military is closely monitoring the situation to ensure adherence to the agreement with Iran. The command emphasized its commitment to maintaining a state of readiness.
A statement further elaborated, “While continuing operations to support freedom of navigation, today saw increased transit of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.” Official figures indicate that 550 oil tankers passed through the strait on that day, transporting over 17 million barrels of crude oil.
Iran Cites Agreement Violations
Iran’s decision to reopen the strait follows accusations that both the U.S. and Israel have breached the terms of their understanding. Tehran specifically pointed to ongoing Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian militia, as a key reason for its action.
