Gyeongnam Province has secured 416.1 billion KRW (approximately $330 million USD) in private investment for future-oriented advanced industries, including aerospace, defense, and precision machinery. This significant influx of capital is expected to revitalize the regional economy and create high-quality jobs, drawing companies that had previously focused their investments elsewhere. The provincial government announced the successful signing of an investment agreement aimed at realizing Gyeongnam’s “Grand Leap Forward” initiative.
Major Investment Deal Signed for Advanced Industries
On the 31st, at the provincial government’s main conference room, Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-soo, along with representatives from seven cities and counties (Changwon, Sacheon, Gimhae, Yangsan, Haman, Sancheong, and Geochang) and executives from 12 investing companies, formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for advanced industry investment. This agreement commits the 12 companies to invest a total of 416.1 billion KRW to establish or expand production facilities across Gyeongnam Province. The investments are projected to create 454 new jobs.
Of the 12 participating companies, eight will be constructing new factories, while the remaining four will expand their existing facilities. The investments are strategically focused on sectors crucial to Gyeongnam’s industrial landscape, such as defense, aerospace, and precision machinery.
