Entertainment Agency Pursues Legal Recourse Against Defamatory Online Material
Starship Entertainment is taking decisive legal action against individuals creating and disseminating malicious content that defames Jang Wonyoung, a prominent member of the K-pop group IVE. The agency confirmed its commitment to addressing the issue on October 18th.
Ongoing Monitoring and Investigation
In a statement released across IVE’s official social media channels, Starship Entertainment declared, “We are continuously monitoring individuals who create and distribute malicious content targeting Jang Wonyoung.” The agency further revealed that law enforcement is actively involved in an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators and secure crucial evidence.
Cross-Platform Information Gathering
Starship Entertainment is also initiating procedures to gather information from users on domestic online platforms, including Naver Blog and DC Inside. Concurrently, steps are being taken to obtain user data from international platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) to aid in the investigation.
Legal Ramifications for Criminal Acts
The agency emphasized its firm stance on holding offenders accountable. “For cases confirmed as criminal acts, we are pursuing the strongest possible legal response, including criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits,” Starship stated. The types of harmful content being addressed encompass defamation, character assassination, obscenity, sexual harassment, the spread of false rumors, and invasion of privacy directed at artists.
