Intensive Enforcement Underway in Seoul’s Gangnam District
Authorities in Seoul are initiating a significant crackdown on drunk driving tonight, focusing their efforts across the entire Gangnam area. The operation is set to commence during the late-night hours, targeting multiple locations within this affluent district.
Widespread Operation Across Gangnam and Surrounding Areas
The concentrated enforcement will extend to 18 distinct sites throughout the Gangnam region, encompassing areas such as Gangnam, Seocho, Suseo, and Bangbae. A substantial contingent of 249 officers is being deployed, drawn from the traffic police, traffic control unit, traffic patrol, and city expressway patrol units. These officers will be supported by 53 vehicles, including patrol cars and traffic motorcycles.
Gangnam Leads Seoul in DUI Offenses
Recent data reveals that the Gangnam Police Station handled the highest number of drunk driving cases within Seoul last year, with a total of 798 incidents. Furthermore, traffic accidents attributed to driving under the influence have been most prevalent within the jurisdiction of the Gangnam Police Station from 2023 to 2025.
Sustained Efforts to Combat Drunk Driving
Law enforcement has been conducting large-scale drunk driving enforcement operations, with a particular emphasis on the Gangnam area, since the end of last year. Officials have reiterated their commitment to combating this serious offense.
