Police in Jinhae-gu, Changwon, South Korea, captured two injured fugitives using a specialized scent-tracking dog after they fled a shooting incident and fell down an embankment.
Chaotic Escape and Injuries
On April 13 at around 4:43 p.m., the suspects tumbled down a narrow road in Jinhae-gu while evading officers, exacerbating their gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage captured one suspect, referred to as A, crossing the street without identification. Tattoos were visible on his back even amid the disorder, and he staggered as if intoxicated.
A concerned citizen spotted the unsteady A, detained him briefly, and handed him over to arriving police.
Scent Dog Delivers Breakthrough
With limited clues at the hectic scene, investigators turned to a scent dog that followed human odor traces from clothing discarded by the fugitives. The dog navigated a residential building, zeroing in on a unit marked by A’s distinctive scent profile.
Officers confirmed the apartment belonged to A through resident documents. Inside, they found no personal items, suggesting he had left empty-handed.
Police Insights and Next Steps
Radio communications among officers revealed familiarity with A. “He’s the kind who wanders out doing this while drunk,” one stated. “A had no other place to crash,” another added.
Authorities secured A and shifted focus to the primary hideout. The investigation proceeds to clarify identities and circumstances.
