Kim Junsu Details Disturbing Fan Behavior During TVXQ Days
Singer Kim Junsu has come forward with accounts of extreme fan intrusions during his time as a member of the group TVXQ. In a recent YouTube appearance on Sung Si-kyung’s channel, titled ‘The Process to Becoming a Star and Leading Musical Actor Kim Junsu~’, the artist shared unsettling experiences with obsessive fans, often referred to as ‘sasaengs’.
Intrusive Phone Calls and Uninvited Guests
Sung Si-kyung recalled a past incident where a member of a different group, Yoochun, carried multiple phone batteries due to constant calls, highlighting the pervasive nature of fan contact. He mentioned that changing phone numbers often led to congratulatory messages, implying fans had found the new number.
Kim Junsu elaborated on this, stating that immediately after a number change, he received a call while in a car heading to his accommodation. The caller reportedly said, ‘Did you think I wouldn’t know?’ Kim Junsu described this as a significant breach of personal boundaries.
The situation escalated further. Kim Junsu recounted an evening where all members were watching a movie together in the living room when the front door’s light turned on. Upon investigation, they found no one there. Later, as the light repeatedly turned on, Kim Junsu went to check again. To his shock, he discovered a woman with a lion-cut hairstyle standing in the hallway.
Physical Intrusions and Unsettling Behavior
He described escorting the individual out, only to be woken later by sounds. Another member, Changmin, had gone to the door, calling out ‘Hyung’, and Kim Junsu witnessed a woman’s legs on the second floor through the window. He further revealed that according to Kim Jaejoong’s account, the woman had approached him and kissed him.
Adding to the disturbing nature of the events, Kim Junsu noted that when the police arrived, the manager of the fan in question had kept his knees bent until the authorities appeared, suggesting a level of premeditation. When the members tried to see the fan’s face, she reportedly smiled at them, despite the circumstances.
Aggressive Fan Tactics and Constant Surveillance
The artist also shared frightening experiences in restrooms. He recounted instances where female fans would emerge from large stalls after he entered. He stated that fans would approach him for autographs even while he was using the facilities. The sheer volume of these occurrences led to the use of a ‘trolley’ to manage the situation.
Kim Junsu concluded by saying that these extreme sasaeng fan activities eventually ceased, allowing him to escape the constant surveillance. However, he admitted that this was a reality he faced throughout his twenties.
