Kim Min-su’s Journey to the First Team
Born in 2006, Kim Min-su is a versatile attacking player, capable of operating effectively as a winger or a central striker. His journey with Gimnàstic de Tarragona began in the summer of 2022 when he joined the club’s youth academy. He quickly progressed, making his debut for the B team in October of the same year. The B team competes in the Spanish fifth division, providing a crucial platform for Kim to adapt to European football.

Despite these significant milestones, opportunities for Kim Min-su remained limited throughout the remainder of the season. He concluded the season with appearances in three league games, two Copa del Rey matches, and one Champions League fixture. To gain more consistent playing time, Kim was loaned out to Andorra in the second division in July of the previous year.
His loan spell proved fruitful. In August of that year, he recorded one goal and two assists in three appearances for Andorra, earning a nomination for the Player of the Month award. Over the entire season with Andorra, he played 40 games in the second division, scoring six goals and providing four assists. This period of regular first-team action was instrumental in his development.
Return to Gimnàstic and Future Prospects
Now, Kim Min-su returns to Gimnàstic de Tarragona, officially joining the first team for the new season. The club, however, faced relegation from the league in the previous season, finishing 19th and dropping to the Segunda División RFEF. Kim Min-su’s performances have not gone unnoticed by clubs across Europe. French media outlet ‘Foot01’ reported on the 14th that French club Lyon has shown interest in signing Kim. Lyon is reportedly seeking a replacement for Malick Fofana, whose departure is anticipated, and Kim Min-su is considered a strong candidate. With only one year remaining on his current contract, his situation has attracted attention from multiple clubs.
Lyon reportedly holds Kim Min-su in high regard, recognizing his significant potential. Beyond Lyon, reports indicate that other clubs, including Fenerbahçe of Turkey and Ajax of the Netherlands, have also expressed interest in the young South Korean talent.
