Lotte Department Store is collaborating with YG Entertainment to host a significant event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the iconic K-pop group BIGBANG. The festivities are set to take place at Lotte Town, Jamsil, from August 14th to August 23rd, spanning a total of ten days. This event goes beyond a typical pop-up store, aiming to create a comprehensive experiential journey for fans and visitors by integrating various locations, including Seokchon Lake, Lotte World Mall, and Avenuel.
A Multi-faceted Celebration Across Jamsil
The celebration is designed as a cohesive experience, encompassing exhibitions, culinary offerings, fan engagement activities, and merchandise sales. A key highlight will be the transformation of the Seokchon Lake area, with the support of the Songpa District, into a nighttime spectacle inspired by BIGBANG. The illumination will be themed to evoke the essence of the group.
Illuminated Spectacle at Seokchon Lake
During the event period, the Seokchon Lake promenade and its waterside stage will feature special lighting installations inspired by ‘Baengbong,’ the official fan lightstick of BIGBANG. A particularly special moment is planned for August 19th, BIGBANG’s debut anniversary, with a dedicated lighting display scheduled for precisely 8:19 PM. Adding to the visual feast, a large, approximately 5-meter-tall ‘Baengbong Crown’ sculpture will be erected on the waterside stage, serving as a prime photo opportunity for fans and visitors alike.
Lotte World Mall: A Hub for BIGBANG’s Legacy
Lotte World Mall will serve as a central point for leveraging BIGBANG’s intellectual property. The basement level (B1) will host a series of relay pop-up stores featuring bakery brands such as ‘What a Bread,’ ‘Drunken Do,’ and ‘Nobad Vibes.’ These stores will offer limited-edition products developed specifically to commemorate BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary. Furthermore, approximately 40 dining establishments within the mall will incorporate special 20th-anniversary themed wrappers and designs, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere throughout the complex.
Interactive Fan Experiences
The event also includes interactive content designed for direct fan participation. The fifth-floor bridge connecting Avenuel and Lotte World Mall will be the venue for the ‘BIGBANG TO COSMOS’ project. This unique initiative will transform messages left by the official fan club ‘V.I.P.’ into a format inspired by the ‘Arecibo Message’—a radio signal sent into space in 1974. This transformed message will be presented as a media art installation, combining light and imagery.
Immersive Media Art and Archival Content
At the Avenuel 6th-floor Art Hall, an immersive media exhibition titled ‘the COSMOS’ will offer a retrospective look at BIGBANG’s two decades in the industry. This exhibition will showcase archival videos of their activities, behind-the-scenes footage from performances, and unreleased on-site photographs. Visitors will also have access to a dedicated listening zone where they can enjoy
