The Air Power’s aerobatic flight group will stage an air present in Saudi Arabia subsequent month after making a stopover in Japan for refueling, officers stated Wednesday.
The Black Eagles group plans to take part within the World Protection Present 2026, a world protection exhibition in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Feb. 8-12, in keeping with the Air Power.
The aerobatic flight group will make a layover in Okinawa, Japan, after departing from a base in Wonju, some 140 kilometers east of Seoul, on Jan. 28.
At Japan’s Naha air base, the Black Eagles will refuel and maintain an change occasion with Japan’s Blue Impulse aerobatic flight group, in keeping with the armed forces.
In November, Korea’s plan to take part in an air present within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fell by after Japan refused to permit the flight group to refuel in Okinawa, citing the group’s T-50B plane coaching close to Dokdo. Japan has made territorial claims over Korea’s easternmost islets.
The Air Power stated its discussions with Tokyo over the Black Eagles’ refueling in Japan went easily this time.
The transfer comes because the leaders of Korea and Japan agreed to advance “future-oriented cooperation” by reciprocal leader-level visits, dubbed “shuttle diplomacy,” after their summit talks in Japan’s Nara earlier this month.
In the meantime, for the upcoming air present, the armed service plans to deploy 9 T-50B plane, 4 C-130 transport planes and a few 120 personnel, showcasing a complete of 24 high-skill aerial maneuvers every day from Feb. 9.
It marked the primary time that the Black Eagles will participate in a protection exhibition within the Center East.
