Luxury bag demand surges even beyond last year’s levels, with high-end fashion items flying off shelves in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The flagship store there marks the first nationwide to surpass 30 billion won in sales, drawing crowds for luxury bags, sneakers, and more.
Strong Sales Growth Across Categories
Analysis of two-week sales data from January 1 to February 14 reveals luxury-related items rose 40% year-over-year overall. Luxury bags lead the charge, with Saint Laurent and Ottolinger seeing over 80% increases compared to the prior period.
Subcategories like sandals, bucket hats, bolcaps, Ambush, and Bitchtawal also jumped 30%. Beauty products targeting overseas markets experienced notable gains, while skincare lines—including screen creams, sunscreens, and Senspray—posted a staggering 150% rise across the board.
Summer Promotions Heat Up
W Concepts responds to the demand with a ‘Summer Essence’ event running through the 25th, featuring popular fashion and sub-brand items. Highlights include a 24-hour ‘Early Summer Brand Sale’ with participants like Liel and Kompany.
Over 200 brands, such as Marine Serre, Jil Sander, Zita, Ostkaka, and Nike, join in, offering up to 90% discounts on T-shirts, outwear, slippers, and more. A W Concepts spokesperson stated, “Even compared to last year, customers actively seek items for a pleasant summer, driving increases in related sales.” The executive added, “We provide diverse options, including beauty items alongside fashion bottoms.”
Gangnam’s flagship store not only hit the 30 billion won milestone first but also records daily sales exceeding 1 billion won last week alone. Projections indicate doubling that figure next week as summer preparations accelerate.
