A fire erupted at the Danwoljae manufacturing factory in Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, at 7:27 p.m. on April 29. One factory worker, a man in his 50s, suffered second-degree burns to the face. Two others sustained minor injuries during the initial rescue efforts.
Swift Emergency Response
Fire officials declared Phase 1 suppression just 22 minutes later, at 7:49 p.m. Currently, 39 fire trucks and 70 firefighters actively combat the blaze, focusing on containment operations.
Extent of the Damage
The flames have spread to two or three factory buildings. Officials remain cautious, avoiding a full containment declaration while prioritizing prevention of further spread. Phase 1 response mobilizes resources from up to four nearby fire stations. Depending on the fire’s scale and damage assessment, authorities may escalate to Phase 2 or 3.
Investigation and Safety Measures
Once the fire is fully extinguished, teams plan to probe the cause and evaluate the damage extent. Namyangju City issued a safety alert to residents, stating, “Smoke continues to billow from the chain reaction; exercise caution to prevent accidents.”
