Hanam Mayor Initiates Review of Policies, Including Opponent’s Proposals
Following the conclusion of the recent mayoral election, Hanam Mayor Lee Hyun-jae convened a meeting with key departmental heads to meticulously review the city’s administrative direction for the upcoming 9th term. The mayor emphasized the importance of rigorously examining not only the campaign promises made but also the policy proposals put forth by opposing candidates, stressing the need for practical and efficient implementation.
Formation of Future Development Committee
A brainstorming session, referred to as ‘Brainstorming Time (BST)’, was held on May 5th to discuss pressing issues. The meeting included the deputy mayor and heads of various city departments, including directors and section chiefs. Mayor Lee instructed the swift establishment of a ‘Future Development Committee’ to systematically advance major projects and evaluate the feasibility of campaign pledges.
This new committee will replace the 8th term Citizen Participation Innovation Committee. It is slated to comprise approximately 50 members, including experts, local representatives, and city officials.
Focus on Practicality and Efficiency
Mayor Lee articulated his stance, stating, “Even if a policy was proposed by an opposing candidate, it is necessary to actively consider it if it benefits the citizens.” He reiterated the priority of efficiency and effectiveness in policy execution.
Key Development Initiatives Highlighted
Regarding the Gyosan New Town development, the mayor urged the preparation of measures to protect the rights of existing residents and to strengthen administrative support for reconstruction and redevelopment projects in the old city center. Furthermore, he directed proactive engagement with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government to expand regional transportation networks, including the extension of the Wirye-Sinsa Line, the inclusion of Hanam in the GTX-D route, and the early opening of Subway Lines 3 and 9.
“It is crucial to thoroughly complete the projects currently underway,” Mayor Lee emphasized. “I urge all public officials to take responsibility and diligently address the city’s current affairs.”
