Actor Gu Seong-hwan broke down in tears after finishing a monumental 446km cross-country journey in South Korea, all for his cherished late pet dog, Kkotbuni.
Grueling Challenge Across the Nation
The epic trek, highlighted in a recent episode of I Live Alone, took Gu Seong-hwan from Busan to a meaningful center in Naju. He carried soil for Kkotbuni’s flowerpot the entire distance, enduring hunger in crowded markets, narrow alleys, and endless stairs.
Facing relentless wind and rain, he stayed positive, declaring, “It’s good because it’s cool—I think it’s fun.” During heavy downpours, he clutched the soil bag tightly to shield it from the elements.
Emotional Milestones and Tears
Nearing the end with just 1km left to the Gwangan Beach splash zone in Busan, Gu Seong-hwan cupped the soil in his hands, savoring its warmth. Overcome with emotion, he crossed the final stretch and pressed the soil to his lips.
In the studio, tears streamed down his face as he recalled, “There were good memories here with Bali too. That’s why I gripped Kkotbuni’s flowerpot so tightly.”
At the splash zone, he hugged his bag fiercely. Sobbing, he confessed, “Since that day, I haven’t seen (Kkotbuni’s) face even once,” then pulled out his phone to stare at a cherished photo.
He cheered affectionately, “Did you go well? See you at the center. Play with the kids and have fun.”
Reflections on the Journey
Afterward, Gu Seong-hwan reflected, “Kkotbuni and I toured the whole country together. I finally reached that Gwanganri splash zone we longed to visit. It felt incredible.”
The heartfelt adventure showcased his unbreakable bond with Kkotbuni, turning a personal tribute into an inspiring tale of perseverance.
