Filming for the upcoming JTBC drama ‘Discovery of Love’ has been temporarily suspended for approximately one month to accommodate reshoots and production adjustments. The decision, announced to cast and crew, cites the need for script revisions and overall project refinement.
Production Pause Sparks Industry Interest
‘Discovery of Love,’ a romantic office comedy, centers on a divorced couple who find themselves sharing the same space and later reconnecting at their workplace. The series had garnered significant anticipation with its confirmed cast, including Kim So-yeon, Kim Ji-seok, Yoon Hyun-min, and Hwang Woo-seul-hye. The abrupt halt in production, which was targeting a second-half release this year, has drawn considerable attention regarding the underlying reasons.
Rumors of Corporate Restructuring Link
The production pause coincides with a period of significant corporate restructuring within the JoongAng Group, which includes JTBC, Content & Media Group, and JoongAng Holdings. This timing has fueled speculation among some observers about a potential connection between the drama’s production issues and the wider corporate changes.
However, individuals close to the production have indicated that the hiatus is primarily for the purpose of product enhancement. Reports suggest the decision was made to allow for necessary script adjustments and to navigate challenges posed by the rainy season, which can impact filming schedules.
The JoongAng Group initiated corporate restructuring for several key affiliates, including JoongAng Holdings, Content & Media Group, and JTBC, on the 15th. Related court proceedings are scheduled to take place at the Seoul Rehabilitation Court on the 23rd.
