The US Defense Department has unveiled 161 files and photographs related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), marking the largest such disclosure spanning from 1966 to recent years. These materials, gathered by agencies including the Defense Department, NASA, and the FBI, detail unexplained aerial sightings but do not confirm extraterrestrial origins.
Unresolved Sightings Highlighted
Officials describe the files as “unresolved cases,” where experts could not reach definitive conclusions on the nature of the observed phenomena. The collection focuses on incidents lacking clear explanations despite thorough analysis.
Notable Apollo 17 Incident
One standout file captures events from the 1972 Apollo 17 moon mission. Photographs from the lunar surface show three objects in flight. Astronauts and mission control personnel identified these as UFOs during the operation, with additional reports confirming similar unidentified objects encountered beyond the immediate landing area.
Plans for Further Transparency
The release aligns with heightened attention to UAP investigations. The Defense Department anticipates disclosing additional files soon. A spokesperson stated, “This reflects the administration’s commitment to rigorous analysis, intelligence sharing, and complete transparency with the public.”
