Kiwoom Heroes face ongoing uncertainty over ace pitcher Kenny Rosenberg’s arrival, as visa processing delays hinder his integration into the rotation. The 31-year-old remains sidelined despite strong underlying stats, with no home runs allowed this season.
Recent Struggles and Pitching Coach Insights
During the May 25 clash against the Samsung Lions at Gocheok Sky Dome, Kiwoom Heroes pitching coach Sol Jong-jin addressed Rosenberg’s status. “No home runs have been reported yet,” Sol stated, emphasizing the need to resolve issues with his secondary pitches.
“Visa matters must be expedited to lock in his schedule,” Sol added. “It typically takes about two weeks, but current circumstances suggest more time is required. Extra effort is essential now.”
Team Officials Weigh In on Timeline
Kiwoom officials echoed the caution, noting Rosenberg requires additional preparation. “He needs more time before debuting effectively,” one said. “Visa delays persist, extending the adjustment period. This stems from administrative hurdles rather than personal entry issues.”
The team views Rosenberg as the prime replacement for Nathan Weiss, who is out with an injury. Late-arriving foreign pitchers in the KBO often falter without ample acclimation, facing heavy contact from familiar lineups.
Performance Potential and Path Forward
Rosenberg boasts a 4-4 record and 3.23 ERA across 13 starts this season, including live batting practice stateside to sharpen his edge. His prior exposure to KBO hitters provides a significant advantage.
Despite recent shellings against batters like An Woo-jin, Byung-Hyun Bae, and Ha Young-min, Kiwoom eyes a rebound. The squad pursues maximum rotation depth, targeting a potential five-game win streak from May 5 while awaiting Rosenberg’s full readiness.
