SEOUL, Feb 1 – South Korea’s exports increased for the eighth straight month in January, marking the sharpest rise in over four years, according to official trade figures released Sunday.
The nation’s exports, a key indicator of global trade from Asia’s fourth-largest economy, jumped 33.9 percent year-on-year to $65.85 billion. This performance surpassed economists’ median forecast of a 29.9 percent gain.
Imports also rose 11.7 percent from the previous year, reaching $57.11 billion, reflecting sustained demand in the export-driven economy.
