SK Sugar Gliders secured their third consecutive championship in the women’s division of the 2025-2026 Handball H-League, marking a historic run for the league’s smallest team.
Decisive Victory in Championship Series
The team triumphed 30-25 over Samcheok City Hall in the third game of the best-of-five series at Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena on the 4th. After dropping the opener due to turnovers, SK Sugar Gliders rallied to sweep the next two matches, sealing the title.
This victory extends their dominance, having topped the regular season with a perfect 21-0 record—the first undefeated campaign in H-League history. Despite narrow margins across three years of regular-season battles, they maintained their championship streak.
Thrilling Comeback Performance
The first game saw Samcheok City Hall build a 10-point lead despite SK’s regular-season stars, including Jung Yuri, but the challengers couldn’t hold on in the tightest contest yet. In the fourth set, the opponents overwhelmed with aggressive plays, taking it 17-14.
SK Sugar Gliders mounted a fierce response in the second half, fueled by Kang Kyung-min’s four straight goals that shifted momentum. Goalkeeper Park Jun-eun starred with 14 crucial saves, linking up with Lee Yeon-kyung, Kim Min-seo, and Kim Bo-eun for key scores. With five minutes left in the fifth set, they pulled ahead 25-22 to claim the crown.
Standout Stars and MVP
Kang Kyung-min and Kang Eun-hye each tallied nine points, while Choi Ji-hye added eight to anchor the win. Selected as series MVP, Kang Eun-hye said, “We talked through timing issues and resolved them together, leading to this great result—feels fantastic.”
Coach Praises Team Effort
Head coach Kim Kyung-jin expressed delight: “Achieving three straight integrated titles feels incredible. The players stepped up with maturity in high-stakes moments, delivering an outstanding outcome. I’m proud of this group for the women’s division’s first three-peat.”
