Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung, well-known South Korean singers, issued public apologies over their son’s extramarital affair scandal. The couple pledged to strictly oversee his compliance with child support and alimony obligations.
Public Statement of Remorse
The singers expressed profound regret for the public’s disappointment and sense of unfairness stemming from the incident. ‘Our family has directly reviewed pandemic-related fan documents, case progression details, and received full accounts from our son, leading to deep reflection,’ they stated. They emphasized that, as creators focused on everyday lives and genuine emotions, they refrained from influencing the judge’s ruling but felt parental concern over perceived injustices.
Court Ruling Details
Family court records from the 26th reveal that in September, their son, identified as plaintiff A, faced a lawsuit from ex-wife B over alimony. The court ordered A to pay B 30 million won in alimony and 800,000 won monthly in child support.
B recounted meeting A through a mutual acquaintance in 2021, marrying in 2024. However, conflict erupted when A engaged in an affair just one month after her pregnancy. B, who operates a YouTube channel called ‘Galosyeon Guso,’ struggled to secure child support and informed the singers about the affair but later expressed regret over her actions.
Parental Commitment
The singers, who prioritize public welfare as public figures, avoided direct intervention in legal matters. They affirmed their resolve to guide their son through proper legal channels for resolution. Despite ongoing proceedings, the family vows full accountability on support payments and major life decisions, aiming to prevent further harm.
