Celebrity Mom Reevaluates Parenting After Daughter’s Stressful Experience
A well-known media personality has opened up about a profound moment that led her to drastically change her approach to her daughter’s education. The incident, which involved her nine-year-old daughter experiencing significant stress, resulted in the termination of all extracurricular lessons.
The Turning Point: A Disturbing Discovery
During an appearance on the television program ‘Sokpul-i Show Dongchimi’, the celebrity recounted the events that led to her decision. She explained that in the early stages of raising her first child, she felt immense pressure to ensure her daughter excelled. This led to a highly demanding educational regimen.
“When raising my first child, I thought, ‘She’s the first, so she has to do well. I’m a first-time mom, so I really have to raise her well.’ With that mindset, I was very pushy with my child in the beginning,” she shared.
The critical moment occurred while her daughter was working on a problem set. The celebrity noticed that her daughter’s scalp was visibly irritated, to the point of what appeared to be hair loss. “One day, my daughter was solving a problem set, and her scalp was inflamed. While doing the problem set, she kept picking at her scalp, causing injuries. It looked like traction alopecia,” she recalled, visibly moved.
A Mother’s Regret and a Child’s True Feelings
At the time, her daughter was only nine years old. The celebrity confessed that seeing her daughter in such distress made her question her own actions. “Before that, I had been pushing her, saying, ‘You have to study quickly.’ But the moment I saw her scalp, the thought struck me, ‘What am I doing to this child?'” she stated.
The realization was deeply impactful. “I was so shocked that day, tears welled up. I suddenly came to my senses, thinking, ‘What was I doing to my daughter?'” she admitted.
A Complete Shift in Educational Philosophy
Following this revelation, the celebrity decided to have an open conversation with her daughter about her schedule. She laid out all of her daughter’s commitments and asked for her honest opinion. “I asked my daughter, ‘Mark down everything you don’t want to do.’ And she really marked down everything she disliked,” she revealed.
As a result, all of her daughter’s educational activities were completely halted. “I felt so sorry that I hadn’t realized my daughter was at a point where her scalp would become so inflamed from stress. So, I decided to stop it all,” she explained.
She added, “Now, she just goes to school and can play as much as she wants afterwards.”
Background on the Celebrity’s Family
The celebrity married a finance executive four years her senior in 2012 and has a daughter and a son. Both of her children are currently attending international schools. It is widely known that international schools, from kindergarten through high school, can incur significant tuition fees, reportedly costing up to 600 million Korean won per student for the entire duration of their education.
