Kim Hye-seong Dominates in Triple-A, Showcasing MLB Readiness
Kim Hye-seong, a prospect with the Los Angeles Dodgers, delivered a commanding performance in his recent Triple-A outing, leaving no doubt about his readiness for the major leagues. He impressively connected with pitches reaching up to 99 miles per hour, demonstrating exceptional timing and power. This offensive display signals a strong push for an early call-up to the big leagues.
A Stellar Night at the Plate
Playing for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kim Hye-seong started as the cleanup hitter and designated hitter in a home game against the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers affiliate) on the 8th (Korean time). He went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, one run scored, and one stolen base, significantly contributing to his team’s decisive 7-3 victory.
The standout performance saw Kim Hye-seong’s batting average climb from .283 to .296 for the season, bringing him tantalizingly close to the .300 mark. His offensive surge began immediately.
Early Contributions and Stolen Base Acumen
In the bottom of the second inning, with his team leading 2-0, Kim Hye-seong stepped up to the plate against opposing starter Anderson. After a hard-fought at-bat, he drove a change-up, clocking in at approximately 80.1 miles per hour, to right field for a single. Following his hit, he showcased his signature ‘feet baseball’ technique, stealing second base without hesitation, marking his first stolen base in Triple-A. He later scored on a teammate’s RBI single, adding another run for his team.
Continued Offensive Barrage
Kim Hye-seong continued his offensive onslaught, achieving a multi-hit game in just his second at-bat. In the bottom of the fourth, again leading off, he perfectly timed a high fastball at around 90.8 miles per hour, delivering a clean single to left field. He advanced to second on a teammate’s walk but was unable to score on a subsequent fielder’s choice.
Although he struck out in his third at-bat in the fifth inning, the true decisive moment arrived in the bottom of the seventh. With the score tightened to 5-3 and the bases loaded with two outs, Kim Hye-seong faced a new pitcher. After a persistent battle, he connected with a crucial pitch, a 99 mph fastball, driving it for a two-RBI double that brought both runners home.
A Significant Milestone and a Strong Statement
This powerful hit not only completed Kim Hye-seong’s three-hit performance for the game but also effectively crushed the Round Rock Express’s momentum. This marks his first multi-hit game with three or more hits in Triple-A since his explosive five-hit performance on March 29th, a span of 71 days. His performance strongly suggests he is ready to make an impact at the highest level of professional baseball.
