Prosecutors have indicted a middle school track coach in his 30s without detention on charges of violating child sexual protection laws and sexual exploitation through photography. The coach secretly filmed a male student with intellectual disabilities in the nude and shared the images in a dormitory group chat.
Details of the Offense
The incident occurred between November and December of last year. While at his residence, the coach captured nude photos and videos of the student he was mentoring using a mobile phone. He then distributed the material in a social media group chat involving other dormitory residents, prompting reactions from fellow students.
Investigators determined that the coach shared the student’s private images with dozens of others, creating a group chat centered on the explicit content. During questioning, the coach admitted, “It was just a joke,” according to officials.
Delayed School Response
In February, another student’s parents discovered exposed videos and reported the matter to the school administration. Despite awareness of the issue, school officials conducted no formal investigation for two weeks and failed to notify authorities promptly.
The complaint reached the school violence countermeasures team (SPO) after the parents posted about it on social media. The coach, who served as a substitute teacher, faced dismissal and resigned from the institution.
Further School Actions
School authorities later initiated an internal probe but could not impose punishment because the affected student’s family denied the incident’s severity. Officials clarified that gathering related posts did not constitute proper procedure.
