Kim Jung-su, vice chairman of Samyang Foods and key figure behind the globally popular Buldak ramen brand, has stepped down as an inside director at the company’s holding firm, Samyang Round Square.
The resignation takes effect on April 30, following an announcement on April 29 from the food industry. Kim had previously relinquished his role as representative director at the holding company.
Internal Succession and Leadership Changes
Samyang Round Square officials are actively seeking a replacement from within the company’s management ranks. In the vacancy left by Kim, Ha Hyun-ok, former head of all business divisions and senior vice president, has been appointed as the new inside director.
Additionally, Jeon Byung-woo, chief strategy officer and also serving as chief operating officer at Samyang Foods, has been reappointed as an inside director.
Buldak-Centric Restructuring Push
This leadership shift aligns with a comprehensive restructuring effort centered on the Buldak brand to drive global expansion and performance growth. Kim continues to spearhead collaborations with the global business expansion president and the real estate division head to bolster these initiatives.
