Jeju Island officials announce a major tourism win, attracting the largest-ever incentive event from Mexico. The destination beat out competitors to host 180 participants from a prominent Mexican firm in September.
Mexico’s Corporacion Moctezuma Chooses Jeju
Corporacion Moctezuma, a leading Mexican cement manufacturer, selected Jeju for its Rockwell Incentive program. Company executives, including the CEO, aim to explore the island’s business potential and showcase attractions to employees. The group plans a three-day visit from September 7 to 9, marking Jeju’s first such incentive from Mexico.
Victory Over Las Vegas
Jeju edged out Las Vegas at the IMEX America trade show, the world’s largest MICE event. Following a January site inspection, officials finalized the deal, highlighting Jeju’s appeal for global gatherings.
The incentive promotes Jeju’s unique offerings, including fresh seafood feasts, distinctive venues, and rich cultural experiences, positioning the island as a top destination beyond typical tourist spots.
Targeted Global Marketing Push
Authorities plan focused marketing campaigns targeting regions like the Americas and Europe to draw more MICE events. Jeju Vice Governor Han emphasized, “Securing this event proves Jeju’s competitive edge as a global MICE hub, even capturing interest from Central American business leaders.”
Last year, Jeju hosted 17,300 incentive travelers from China, Southeast Asia, and other areas, underscoring its growing international draw.
