Yang Gyeong-jin, a 30-year-old resident of Gwanak District, Seoul, attended the festival with his younger brother. “It’s wonderful to experience such a world-class fireworks festival here on the Han River on a beautiful autumn night,” Yang stated. “The fireworks falling from the sky were incredibly beautiful and moving.” He added, “If I have the chance, I want to come again next year. It’s rare to see such beautiful night skies in Seoul, so I’m happy to have witnessed this.”
Song Hyeon-jeong, a 23-year-old university student from Seodaemun District, Seoul, secured a spot near the riverbank with her friends. “I’ve only ever seen fireworks festivals in videos before, so I was surprised by how beautiful they were in person,” Song remarked. “I was hesitant to come because I thought it would be too crowded, but I’m glad I did.”
Logistical Challenges and Public Safety
The immense crowd, however, led to some congestion and minor disturbances. Earlier in the day, police intervened when spectators attempted to set up blankets on pedestrian paths in Yeouido Han River Park, leading to brief altercations. Despite these incidents, no major accidents related to the crowd have been reported.
According to the Fire Department, no significant injuries were reported during the festival. To manage the large influx of attendees, subway services on Line 5 were set to express stops, passing through Yeouinaru Station without stopping between 7 PM and 10 PM, the duration of the event. Additionally, traffic on the southern section of the Mapo Bridge was completely closed to vehicles from 3 PM until midnight.
In anticipation of the large number of people leaving the event, safety personnel and police were prepared to guide citizens to nearby subway stations, including Saetgang, Daebang, and Singil stations, to facilitate their dispersal.
