Police Seek Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Art Gallery Attack
Authorities have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 70s suspected of attacking another individual at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. The Seoul Jongno Police Station announced on the 27th that they are seeking a warrant for Mr. A, aged in his 70s, on suspicion of assault and preparation for arson.
Details of the Incident
The alleged attack occurred on the evening of the 26th at approximately 7:47 PM. Mr. A is accused of stabbing Mr. B, a man in his 40s, with a sharp object within the museum premises. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the scene by taxi, moving through various locations including Samgakji in Yongsan-gu and Noryangjin in Dongjak-gu, before being apprehended at the residence of an acquaintance.
Additional Charges Considered
During the investigation after Mr. A’s emergency apprehension, police discovered evidence suggesting he had also prepared a firearm. Consequently, charges related to the preparation of arson have been added to the existing assault allegations.
