A college student in his 20s faces imprisonment after causing a serious drunk driving accident in a Lamborghini SUV while serving probation for prior drug and traffic violations.
Details of the Crash
On October 11, 2024, around 10:50 p.m., the driver navigated a road in Seoul’s Namsan-gu district. Operating the Lamborghini SUV, he collided with a taxi in the central lane, producing a loud impact from the black vehicle’s front end.
The taxi driver and passenger sustained severe injuries requiring immediate surgery. Despite the collision, the student continued driving for about 1 kilometer before striking a guardrail after emergency signals.
Alcohol Level and Investigation
Tests confirmed the driver’s blood alcohol concentration at 0.098%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08%. Authorities note he had no prior criminal record but cooperated with victims during the probe.
Prosecutors indicted him on May 3, seeking an actual prison term over probation violations from special assault and post-accident traffic offenses committed eight months earlier.
Police Statement
A police deputy chief stated, “The perpetrator received probation for drug-related crimes but drove drunk just six months later, fleeing the scene.” He added, “Despite remorse, victim cooperation, and non-severe injuries, such irresponsible actions demand appropriate punishment.”
