Musinsa’s flagship Mega Store in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong attracted more than 40,000 visitors during its first weekend, marking a strong launch for the major offline retail space.
Record-Breaking Footfall and Sales
From Friday, the 24th, through Sunday, the 26th, the store welcomed approximately 42,000 shoppers. Sales during this period reached around 9 billion won, with offline transactions surpassing 3 billion won on Saturday, the 25th, alone.
Nearly 26,000 items at the store entrance sold out quickly, and demand for essential purchases also surged. The average transaction value per customer exceeded 100,000 won, with main items averaging two per purchase.
Boost in Online and Combined Performance
The store’s opening drove online sales growth as well. Musinsa’s online store saw an 18% year-over-year increase during the same period, exceeding combined online and offline sales targets.
Buyer Demographics and Trends
Analysis reveals that 51% of shoppers were non-regular customers, drawn primarily for comparison shopping. Notably, 52% of those in their teens and twenties made purchases. Foreign buyers accounted for about 23%, while non-members represented 30% of total transactions.
Official Response
A Musinsa representative stated, “The Mega Store in Seongsu has evolved into a pre-shopping brand curation and content experience hub, surpassing expectations with responses from both domestic and international customers.” The company plans to expand through fashion-beauty integrations, runway marketing, and beauty brand entries to further boost the Seongsu location.
