Genesis BBQ Group, operator of the popular Korean chicken franchise BBQ, has chosen a local Thai company as its master franchise partner to drive expansion across Southeast Asia. The agreement bolsters direct overseas operations through brand royalties, supply chains, and sales growth.
Selected Partner’s Profile
GenesisBBQ (Thailand) Co., Ltd. emerges as the master franchisee. This standalone overseas entity focuses on food and beverage (F&B) ventures alongside social commerce (SOC) operations, leveraging strong local sales networks. In Thailand, the company manages imported brands, including Korean dining restaurant (CDR) concepts that capture a significant share of the national food market.
Thailand’s Appeal as a Growth Hub
Thailand stands out as a prime Southeast Asian market, boasting a population of roughly 71 million and robust demand for imported goods. Global brands thrive here due to high consumer interest, particularly in Korean food menus. Rising import needs fuel a massive consumer base, positioning the country as an ideal launchpad for regional dominance.
Expansion Strategy and Flagship Stores
BBQ targets major Thai locales like Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya, anchoring operations in key shopping destinations such as Siam Paragon, Central World, and multiplex malls. The focus remains on launching prominent CDR-style franchise flagships to capture market share while scaling restaurant operations.
A BBQ representative stated, “Thailand ranks as one of Southeast Asia’s core markets.” The official added, “Once we establish a solid foothold in Thailand, we plan to extend operations to neighboring countries including Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia.”
