Former Coupang Representative Faces Perjury Investigation
Seoul police have summoned former Coupang executive Park Dae-jun for questioning over suspicions of providing false testimony during a National Assembly hearing. The Anti-Corruption Un of the Seoul Metropolan Police Agency confirmed Park will be investigated on Wednesday as a suspect in the perjury case.
Assembly Hearing Controversy
The allegations stem from Park’s testimony during a December 30, 2025 parliamentary hearing examining Coupang’s business practices. Officials state Park faces suspicions of whholding personal information disclosure requirements and providing misleading statements about a fatal 2020 incident at a Coupang logistics center involving worker safety violations.
Parliamentary Referral
On December 31, 2025, the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Commtee voted to refer Park and six other current and former Coupang executives – including CEO Kim Bom-seok and representative Harold Rogers – for perjury investigations following their hearing testimonies.
Previous Investigations
This marks Park’s second police investigation in recent months. Authories previously questioned him in January regarding separate allegations involving improper contacts wh then-lawmaker Kim Kyung-mi’s office concerning personnel decisions and recrument practices at Coupang’s logistics division.
Legal analysts suggest the perjury investigation could extend for several weeks as authories examine official hearing transcripts and corroborating evidence. No formal charges have been filed at this stage of the inquiry.
