Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager Igor Tudor (48) openly addressed the mounting pressure on the team following their latest Premier League match. After securing a point in the 28th-round away clash against Fulham on February 26 (Korean time), Tudor evaluated the squad’s precarious position in a post-match press conference.
Teetering on the Edge of Relegation
Spurs currently sit 16th in the 2025-2026 Premier League standings with 29 points, just four points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United on 25 points. The team suffered a humiliating 1-4 home defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby on January 23, intensifying fears of a drop into the relegation zone.
Tudor responded to critics labeling his role as the ‘toughest job for a Korean driver’ by stating, “If you recognize the pressures we’re facing right now, you’d understand it’s exactly like that.”
Focus on Results, Not Flair
Emphasizing a no-nonsense approach, Tudor declared, “There’s no room right now to obsess over style or match performance. Every game demands total focus on ‘how to secure points’.”
He further asserted, “This is my direction, and even defeats bring clarity to me. I’m not ignoring style or tactics—it’s just irreverent to dwell on them in this situation.” Tudor added that prioritizing survival comes first: “Don’t talk style now; it’s secondary. In sporting terms, this is about livestock management—pure pragmatism.”
Squad Reinforcements and Challenges
Since taking over in January, Tudor has integrated new signings to bolster the defense. Pedro Porro (27) and center-back Kevin Danso (28), recovered from a toe injury after joining from Galatasaray, have been key additions. Micky van de Ven (25) has filled in at right-back but has yet to make a significant impact in recent outings.
“We must solidify this squad further and find ways to rack up more points,” Tudor stressed, outlining his plan to navigate the relegation scrap.
