In her latest YouTube video, titled ‘Son Tae-Young’s Shopping Vlog: New Jersey Pork Belly Challenge,’ she shared her daily routine leading up to the bold food adventure. Starting the day with matte lipstick, she headed to the popular meat spot bustling with morning crowds.
Over her 17 months in America, Son Tae-Young documented nonstop grilling sessions at top pork belly venues. She marveled at the scene, stating, “I need to grab just the lean cuts to take home. It’s the first time I’ve seen so many people here in the morning.”
Thick Cuts Test Her Limits
The standout feature was the enormous pork belly, prized for its high moisture content and exceptionally thick fat layer. “This meat has the most water I’ve seen, and the fat side is thicker than ever,” she noted. Opting to re-grill the hefty 40cm piece for perfection, she declared, “If it’s this thick, it needs another round. My first go at a New Jersey pork belly spot feels spot-on.”
Aftermath: Swollen Eyes and Full Belly
The next morning, after just three hours of sleep, her eyes had swollen by 3cm. She received an email from her child’s school regarding a homeroom teacher issue, adding to the chaos. “Eyes can puff up even at home, but with everything from energy to utilities stable, I’m just hoping it passes smoothly—feels great to be so full,” she shared.
By the following day, the swelling persisted intensely. “My eyes were massively puffy, but since I’m staying home anyway and no discomfort like bloating hit, they’ve accumulated a ton—here’s the 40cm mark,” she explained while measuring the dramatic effect. Despite the visible aftermath, Son Tae-Young completed the challenge successfully, calling it a true test of indulgence. “My eyes really swelled up big time,” she admitted with a laugh.
