Shinhwa band members arrived in large numbers at Seoul’s Mokcheon Stadium on the 29th to rally behind FC Anyang during a pivotal relegation showdown. Teammate Shin Hye-seong, however, sat out the contest due to a hand injury affecting his thumb and index finger. Fans still cheered enthusiastically as he appeared in the tunnel.
FC Anyang Falls Short in Tight Loss
FC Anyang suffered a 1-2 defeat in the high-stakes encounter. The team conceded two goals after Lee Min-woo’s contribution. Lee Min-woo, who married Japanese national Iami, embraced fatherhood to two daughters—one from her prior relationship and one from theirs—joining the ranks of family-oriented players on the squad as the fourth such teammate.
Shinhwa’s Jeon Jin and Andy connected with supporters, while leader Eric and Kim Dong-wan offered vocal encouragement from the stands.
Shin Hye-seong’s Turbulent Soccer Career
An active FC Anyang player today, Shin Hye-seong debuted professionally in 2007 amid drinking-related suspicions, securing an irregular entry to his initial club.
In 2009, authorities fined him 10 million won for illegal overseas gambling involving approximately 140 million won across five instances from July 2007 to April 2008.
Shin Hye-seong stated, “There was simple curiosity about money, but I acted foolishly by challenging claims multiple times.” He staged a quick comeback with a photo essay release just a month later but voluntarily ended his Japanese club activities in February 2010.
Further probes uncovered additional victims, including road agency staff and an illegal vehicle sales employee. Shin Hye-seong explained the incidents involved minor vehicle contact while intoxicated. He compensated those affected with interest and taxes.
The Japanese club extended his deal by six months due to injury before committing to a full-year contract.
