Emotional Tribute Through Memorial Video and Handwritten Note
Actor Goo Jun-yeop has commemorated the first anniversary of his late partner Seo Hui-won’s passing with a deeply personal memorial video and handwritten letter. The emotional tribute was shared privately with close friends and family before being made available to the public.
“It’s been one year since Hui-won left us,” Goo expressed in his handwritten note. “Whenever I looked at the sky, this is how I imagined creating a special space just for her voice. She often told me ‘I’m an alien from outer space’ – that’s why I wanted to create a galaxy just for Hui-won.”
Celestial Symbolism in Memorial
The memorial’s unique astronomical alignment has drawn particular attention. “The direction where Hui-won watches over us is approximately 208 degrees,” Goo explained. “This angle includes Thailand, where her family resides, and also represents our significant date of February 8.”
During a private memorial service at Geumsan Memorial Park’s VIP section, Goo personally screened the tribute video he created. Attendees reported being moved to tears by footage showing Seo Hui-won’s childhood memories and the couple’s tender moments together.
Memorial Service Attended by Close Circle
The intimate ceremony saw attendance from Seo Hui-won’s immediate family, including her mother and younger brother, along with several celebrity friends. Actor Kwon Hae-hyo, comedian Hong Rok-ki, and Super Junior’s Choi Si-won were among those paying their respects.
Goo concluded his handwritten message with poignant words: “My eternal love – everything I have belongs to Hui-won. Wherever you are, just wait for me. I’ll come to you running. I miss you endlessly and will watch over you forever.”
A Love Story Cut Short
The couple’s 20-year relationship saw them reconcile in 2022 after previous separations, with their enduring bond earning them the nickname ‘Couple of the Century’ among fans. Tragically, their reunion lasted less than a year before Seo Hui-won’s sudden passing during a family trip to Japan in February 2023 due to acute pulmonary edema. She was 48.
Goo Jun-yeop has maintained privacy since the tragedy, only emerging publicly for this heartfelt anniversary tribute to his late partner.
