Comedian Kim Sook expressed surprise after receiving a curt reply from an AI during a recent episode of KBS 2TV’s entertainment program The Problem Children of the Rooftop Room, known as Okmuna.
Guest Appearance by AI Expert
KAIST professor Kim Dae-sik, a leading scholar in international relations and AI research, joined the show as a guest. Kim Sook shared her experience with the professor, stating, “This is the first time I’ve asked AI a question, but it gave such a short answer.”
Professor Kim Dae-sik affirmed her observation, replying, “That’s right. If you realize that most AI responses are brief, it becomes quite startling.” He highlighted how even targeted studies on human-AI interactions yield imperfect outcomes.
Insights on Human-AI Collaboration
The professor stressed the importance of partnership between humans and AI. “Materials assessing the two-way communication between AI and humans are surprisingly accessible, but focused research doesn’t always produce flawless results,” he noted. “Humans must think and create alongside AI, providing clear explanations and repeating as needed.”
Addressing AI’s current limitations, Professor Kim Dae-sik said, “AI harbors too much anxiety right now.” He suggested a practical tip: “Tell the AI, ‘I’m mentally strong, so respond without worrying about offending me.'”
The cast praised his wisdom, remarking, “You’re so insightful, like a Bodhisattva.” Professor Kim Dae-sik advised viewers to pay closer attention to nuances in AI replies and trust its straightforward answers without skepticism.
The episode aired on May 14, captivating audiences with discussions on AI’s evolving role in everyday interactions.
