Kim Se-yeong fired a bogey-free 7-under par 64 in the second round of the JM Eagle LA Championship, vaulting into a tie for second place overall.
Kim Se-yeong’s Dominant Display
At El Caballero Country Club (par 72, 6,679 yards) in California, Kim Se-yeong tallied seven birdies across 18 holes on April 18 Korean time during the LPGA Tour event boasting a $3.75 million purse. Her strong play positioned her at 7-under for the round, sharing second place entering the final stages.
Through two rounds, she notched 14 birdies for a total of 130 strokes, securing tied second position. This achievement marks her first 14-birdie tournament since the BMW Ladies Championship last October.
Kim Se-yeong shared her insights post-round: “Even with wind gusts today, I maintained focus on every shot and converted key putts at critical moments.”
The first-round pacesetter from Japan, I Ji, sits one stroke clear in solo second at 13-under par.
Yu In-na’s Remarkable Surge
Yu In-na, starting the day in 20th position, unleashed eight birdies without a bogey, leaping to third place at 12-under par after sinking eight straight putts over eight holes.
Having notched sixth place in her last LPGA outing, Yu In-na leads Korean players in current form. She remarked, “Hitting 29 strokes over the front nine for the first time is hard to believe. I plan to carry this calm mindset into the remaining rounds.”
Yu In-na added, “When my driver strength connects well, birdie chances multiply. On this course, I’m pinpointing ideal spots from the fairway to attack pins effectively.”
Other Korean Standouts
Im Jin-hui holds fourth at 9-under par. Kim Hyo-joo withdrew before the second round began, while Choi Hye-jin exited during play.
