Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung sharply criticized current housing policies, labeling government promises of market normalization as empty rhetoric. In a post on X dated February 24, he highlighted the abnormal state of the real estate sector, particularly multi-family apartments, and called for public pressure on officials.
Push for Bold Normalization
Lee declared that citizens recognize irregularities in the property market, especially apartment pricing, and actively seek genuine reforms. “There are words not to say to the president, but there are also words not to say to the government,” he stated, urging outspoken criticism.
He argued that power can transform non-political issues into political battles. “Power lowers political rhetoric to non-political levels, revealing its true essence and nature,” Lee explained. Revealing such motives, he added, makes official promises even more alarming.
Citizen Awareness and Policy Threats
Citizens remain vigilant against market distortions, Lee noted. “Power threatens normalization across interest rates, taxes, finance, and corporations. The core issue lies in its intentions and purposes,” he said.
Lee dismissed concerns from housing policy supporters and high-rise advocates as baseless. “Those causing multi-family issues or backing non-standard housing face no real obstacles to normalization beyond unfounded fears,” he asserted.
Emphasizing broader impacts, he warned that such rhetoric harms ordinary people regardless of nationality. “Abnormalities demand regulation from both citizens and government; opposing this aligns with the status quo,” Lee concluded.
