Norwegian cross-country skiing sensation Johannes Høsflot Klæbo anchored his team to a gold medal victory in the men’s 4×7.5km relay at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, claiming his ninth Olympic gold and setting a new benchmark.
Record-Breaking Performance in Italy
On February 15, at the Tesero Cross-Country Ski Stadium in Italy, Klæbo powered through the final 7.5km leg over a challenging 4×7.5km course, securing the win for Norway’s dominant team. This triumph marks his fourth gold at these Games, the most he has ever won in a single Olympics.
Dominance Across Multiple Events
Klébo excelled throughout the competition, also taking gold in the skiathlon (10km classic + 10km skate), classic sprint, and 10km individual start free technique events. His four victories highlight Norway’s strength in cross-country skiing.
Career Milestone
Prior to Milano Cortina, Klæbo had earned three golds at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics and two at the 2022 Beijing Games. This latest haul brings his total to nine Olympic golds, surpassing the previous winter Olympics record of eight held by fellow Norwegians Marit Bjørgen in cross-country and Ole Einar Bjørndalen in biathlon.
Klébo celebrated the achievement, calling it “a very delicious title” and noting, “Reaching this major milestone alongside my teammates makes it even more special.”
