Lee Young-sik voiced frustration over his son-in-law Won Hyeok’s exclusion from exclusive celebrity family gatherings during holidays. The duo shared their story on a recent episode of MBN’s Gahwaman Saseong.
Frustrations Over ‘Eye Service’ Gatherings
Won Hyeok highlighted the issue of limited invitations. He stated, “Even if it’s just among famous people, ordinary folks attend those central events with great food daily. Yet our family skips other homes, and neighbors never invite us. That’s the perception.”
Lee Young-sik countered, expressing dismay at public perceptions. “People label me a fool controlled by my son-in-law if I tag along. It’s not that you can’t attend. They’re watching my every move—no need to endure that scrutiny.”
He emphasized, “Even lesser-known figures like me, my daughter Sumin, Won Hyeok, and our in-laws all visit each other’s celebrity homes regularly.”
Empathy and Close Family Ties
Host Jeong Da-eun empathized, noting, “That truly feels upsetting.” Lee Young-sik replied, “I’m always sensitive like that—naturally sympathetic at heart.”
Won Hyeok described their bond: “Our shared time tops the charts across Korea, so we prioritize it precisely. Celebrity ties with in-laws follow the same rules everywhere—no exceptions.”
Beyond shared meals, they coordinate schedules seamlessly and even hunt for tennis balls together during doubles matches. On their tennis doubles dynamic with his daughter, Lee Young-sik affirmed, “Their cooperation seals decisive wins.”
