The protection chiefs of South Korea and Norway held talks in Oslo on Friday and mentioned strengthening safety and arms business cooperation, Seoul’s protection ministry stated.
Protection Minister Ahn Gyu-back and his Norwegian counterpart, Tore O. Sandvik, agreed to deepen cooperation in future warfare applied sciences, reminiscent of synthetic intelligence and unmanned methods, and establish areas of cooperation by common talks.
Ahn additionally requested for Norway’s consideration of South Korea’s Chunmoo rocket artillery system in its acquisition venture for long-range precision weapon methods, whereas hailing Oslo’s latest order of extra K9 self-propelled howitzers from South Korea.
In September, South Korean protection firm Hanwha Aerospace signed a deal to provide Norway with 24 extra K9s.
Sandvik expressed hope for mutually helpful arms business cooperation with South Korea and referred to as consideration to the deepening hyperlink between the safety of Asia and Europe amid growing international safety uncertainties, based on the ministry.
He additionally voiced hope for expanded bilateral protection cooperation, noting Norway’s strategic significance within the safety of the Arctic.
In the meantime, Ahn requested for Oslo’s help for Seoul’s North Korea coverage for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
