The V-League regular season leaders in both the men’s and women’s divisions have been determined. Korea Expressway Hi-Pass captured the women’s top position, while Korean Air Jumbos locked in first place in the men’s standings.
Women’s Division: Korea Expressway Hi-Pass Dominates Pink Spiders
Korea Expressway Hi-Pass defeated Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders 3-0 (25-19, 27-25, 25-17) at Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium on the 13th, securing the regular season championship. This marks their first top finish since the 2005, 2014-15, and 2017-18 seasons.
The team finished with a 24-11 record, accumulating 69 points and extending their lead over second-place Heungkuk Life by four points. Despite Heungkuk’s three-point edge in blocks, Hi-Pass maintained control throughout.
Setter Kang So-hui delivered an outstanding performance, notching eight blocks in the first set. The squad overwhelmed opponents in the final set, sweeping decisively. In the second set, they rallied from a tight deuce situation with consecutive blocks from Kang to claim victory.
Leading scorer Him Yi-jin powered through with eight points against Heungkuk Life, paving the way for the championship ceremony. Hi-Pass advances directly to the championship series starting April 1 at home, setting up a trophy clash.
Men’s Division: Korean Air Clinches Title, Samsung Fire Snaps Skid
Korean Air Jumbos confirmed their regular season lead with 69 points, three ahead of Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, who sit at 21-14 with 66 points. Even if Hyundai Capital wins their remaining matchup against Korean Air on the 19th, they cannot overtake due to the win differential.
In a thrilling upset, last-place Samsung Fire Bluefangs stunned second-place Hyundai Capital 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-20), ending a 13-game losing streak. Samsung showcased clutch play, winning three straight sets after dropping the first and grabbing key aces while Capital faltered on service errors.
Hyundai Capital outblocked Korean Air but failed to close the gap. Samsung Fire anticipates continued competition for the top spots. Korean Air heads into the championship series on April 2 at the home playoff stadium.
