U.S. President Donald Trump announced that productive discussions with Iran have begun to address the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Trump’s Direct Statement on Truth Social
On March 23, Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that the United States and Iran are finalizing a comprehensive response to recent aggressions in the Middle East while preparing a political resolution. He emphasized daily progress driven by valid reasons and confirmed the start of substantive, production-oriented talks.
Trump added, “Even with sincere and rational dialogues underway, strikes targeted Iran’s missile launch sites and major energy infrastructure for five full days, as anticipated.” He predicted, “These negotiations will conclude matters within this week,” and noted, “The current administration’s choices regarding North-South dynamics will prove pivotal.”
Recent U.S. Ultimatum to Iran
Prior to this, on March 21 local time, the U.S. warned Iran that failure to release 48 hostages within 48 hours would lead to the destruction of missile launch sites. Officials confirmed that primary launch facilities have already sustained significant damage.
Despite the ultimatum, hostages remain unaccounted for, prompting threats of strikes on nuclear facilities if no release occurs. The joint communication occurred 24 hours earlier.
Ongoing Concerns Despite Dialogue
While talks with Iran proceed, mounting fears persist over potential cooperation on hostage releases, heightening tensions amid continued military actions.
