President Donald Trump emphasized the freedom of Iranian citizens as a top priority following the U.S.-Israel joint military operation against Iran on February 28. In a key phone call shortly after the strikes, dubbed “Magnificent Fury,” Trump warned that the U.S. aims to reduce Iran to ashes unless it surrenders.
Trump’s Direct Appeal to Iranians
Trump stated that the U.S. seeks only the liberation of Iranian people and desires a safe path for them to achieve it. He urged, “We want a safe exit, and we’ll make that path.”
On his Truth Social platform, Trump welcomed Iranians, declaring, “The time for freedom is now.” He added, “You’re in a safe place now—stay home. Everyone is worried.” Trump further remarked, “If they attack, capture the bastards,” and noted, “This will unite even opposing sides anywhere, including in America.”
Strategic Strikes and Regime Pressure
The extensive airstrikes target Iran’s major nuclear facilities, aiming to deliver a powerful message to citizens amid a new policy shift. Iran harbors the largest anti-regime forces and widespread popular discontent, fueled by massive protests against the regime and its Supreme Leader.
Reza Pahlavi, a prominent anti-regime figure known as the “Maximalist Messiah,” echoed the call, stating, “The legitimate position awaits you here.” He encouraged Iranians to rise against oppressive forces once more. Pahlavi congratulated Trump on the Iran developments and engaged in discussions with Trump administration officials.
No Official Response Yet
Trump has not issued a formal reply to Pahlavi. In a recent interview, he commented, “Look at good people, but their behavior in our country matters more.”
Broader Geopolitical Tensions
The U.S. maintains its policy toward Israel amid ongoing drone conflicts. Fulfilling a key campaign promise to end Middle East wars, Trump has pushed for hostage releases. Iran poses the most significant missile threat from the region and holds potential to retaliate against U.S. bases via proxy networks.
Post-Israel strikes, exposures of regime vulnerabilities—such as Boeing dealings in Qatar—highlight opportunities for opposition gains.
Iranian-American Support for Trump
Trump shared content on social media highlighting Iranian-American electoral involvement. Reports indicate Iranian-Americans opposed him in the 2020 and 2024 elections but actively backed him this time, boosting overall U.S. voter turnout.
