The unusual event unfolded in the 22nd minute of the first half between Istanbul Yurdum Spor and Mevlanakapi Guzelhisar at a local stadium in Istanbul’s Zeytinburnu district. Goalkeeper Muhammet Uyanik launched the ball upfield, striking a low-flying seagull and sending it crashing motionless to the pitch.2635
Team captain Gani Catan raced to the bird’s side without hesitation. He carefully administered chest compressions, continuing for around 50 seconds until the seagull regained consciousness and began to stir.317
