Undefeated boxer Shakur Stevenson secured a world title in his fourth weight division by dominating Teofimo Lopez Jr. in a unanimous decision victory, claiming the WBO junior welterweight championship at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Stevenson’s Dominant Performance
The 28-year-old southpaw, who earned Olympic silver in 2016, controlled the bout with precise straight rights to Lopez’s body. He effectively countered Lopez’s late surge using accurate left-hand shots, losing just one round across all three judges’ scorecards. Stevenson captured the 140-pound (63.5 kg) belt, maintaining his perfect professional record at 25-0.
Milestone Achievement
This win marks Stevenson as the 25th fighter in boxing history to claim world championships across four divisions. He previously held the WBO featherweight and super featherweight titles, along with the WBC lightweight belt.
Post-Fight Challenge
Following the victory, Stevenson issued a challenge to Conor Benn, who recently defeated former WBA super-middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. in November. During an in-ring faceoff, Stevenson declared, “We can get it banging, boy… I want the fight.”
