Lotte World Tower and Mall welcomed approximately 4.9 million visitors in February, marking the highest monthly total ever recorded for that period.
Off-Season Surge Driven by Luminarie Event
Despite February typically being a slower month due to Lunar New Year holidays, the complex saw a significant uptick fueled by the ‘2026 Lotte Luminarie’ installations. Daily average attendance reached around 170,000 visitors, reflecting a 20% year-over-year increase.
The final weekend of the month (February 21-22) drew nearly 410,000 visitors, surpassing the previous peak weekend average from December (420,000 based on 2025 figures).
Boost in Young Demographics and International Spending
This influx resulted in a 20% rise in individual visits from the 20-30 age group compared to the prior year. Foreign tourist purchases also jumped 65%, underscoring tangible economic impacts from the event.
Analysts note that Lotte World Tower leads nationwide department store traffic, with attractions like popular sea bass exhibits and a massive 16-meter tower installation drawing crowds through immersive experiences.
Lotte Official Highlights Key Attractions
A Lotte executive stated, “The phenomenon originated online as ‘Badak Selka’—a trend of placing giant jellyfish in buildings and showcasing them via selka models. In reality, the 17-meter dome housing these massive jellyfish creates a striking, unprecedented scene.”
The ‘2026 Lotte Luminarie’ event runs through March 8.
